Wake Review

29th of June 2010

Awaking to find yourself at the bottom of a sinking freighter is the stuff nightmares are made of, which is why Boss Baddie's latest offering Wake is simply teeming with fear-driven tension. With water lashing at your feet and rising fast, you'll want to move towards the top of the ship post-haste.

ColorCube Review

29th of June 2010

It's with a hint of irony that the humble puzzler seems to be the one genre that has taken to 3D with the most ease. While Sonic and co. might spend their time running into walls thanks to the extra dimension, and players the world over regularly get confused and fire upon their teammates in shooter after shooter, titles like ColorCube make adapting to 3D gaming look a breeze.

Treetopia Review

29th of June 2010

Social games are maturing rapidly, now at the point where game designers are starting to play around with game designs that blend elements from different genres. Treetopia seems to be about fusing the sense of progression text RPGs can offer with the creativity of a city-builder. The gameplay doesn't completely work, but it's an interesting idea that could develop into something extraordinary given enough time. There's a sense in Treetopia that you're interacting with a more substantial world than you usually see in Facebook games.

iHook Review

28th of June 2010

Most iPhone and iPod Touch owners have by now run the veritable gauntlet that is the App Store. It can be very difficult to pick out the gems from the rubbish, particularly these days when it is all too easy to gussy up a mediocre game with flashy graphics and nice icons, only to find that all those layers of gloss and glitz have been applied to a boring or malformed concept. iHook is a rare occurrence – a really great gameplay idea, hidden beneath a pile of badly translated English and 80s arcade-style graphics and sound.

28th of June 2010

Typically, when you hear the words “movie tie-in game” it creates an involuntary twinge, followed by huge disappointment. Despicable Me: Minion Mania does buck this trend, but only just. It’s a fun game, but small issues drag it down.
