Seeing as how no major franchise is safe from the social game craze, Shrek is one that actually makes sense just from hearing about it. Being able to build your own “Far Far Away” and manage the inner workings of it always sounded like fun, but only now is it reality with Shrek’s Fairytale Kingdom from Beeline Interactive. |

The best mobile games are the ones that sneak up on you. They look simple or uninspired at first glance, but before you know it you've finished half the levels, your battery is dying, and all you want to do is keep playing. Ichi has that look about it; it's a one-button puzzler that anyone with a finger can play, but it appears that it may have a lot more in store than first meets the eye. |

Christians revere Easter as the day Jesus rose from the grave, and the holiday’s proximity to spring’s beginning also grants it a whole lot of pagan symbolism—specifically, the Easter tradition of hunting for eggs. Eggs shelter new life and hope, and make a glorious mess when you whip them against a brick wall. We don’t encourage wasting food or killing baby birds/reptiles, though, so consider playing these 10 egg-centric games to get you in the mood for your Easter chocolate and ham. Besides -- what better way to spend a long weekend than passing the time with a little gaming? |

As a parent to a 7 year old, there’s no questioning that my family is the target market for the Skylanders franchise. Over the holiday season we revelled in its great family friendly console game that offered up a top-down shooter with just a hint of light RPG character development. We spent weeks upon weeks trying to track down that one particularly hard to find character in the immediate area (for us, it was an air Skylander). And so, when we learned that the brand was coming to the App Store, we couldn’t help but get a little excited. |

While we all know libraries are a great place to sit down and read a good book, have you ever wondered what would happen if the letters contained within those books suddenly escaped the pages? In Fugazo’s upcoming puzzle game Word U, Dr. Hoo is dealing with that very situation, as the library has become overwhelmed with letters, and it’s your job to clear them out! |

Thanks to top notch releases like Shadow Era and Kard Combat, it’s become abundantly clear over the last year that trading card games (TCG’s) are a perfect match for touch screen devices. Despite this, the granddaddy of them all – Magic: The Gathering – still hadn’t made the transition. That’s about to change. |

KABOOM! What’s that sound? It’s the glorious rumble and roar of Twisted Pixel’s Ms. Splosion Man making its way to the PC, iPhone, and iPad. Ms. Splosion Man is a platforming game that was previously an Xbox Live Arcade exclusive—but Mizz Splosion is a woman who is made entirely out of combustible materials, so how long were you expecting her to remain walled in at one spot? |

Like most of the internet – or at the very least, the nerdier half of the web – I’ve spent the last decade enamoured with Penny Arcade. Arguably the most celebrated webcomic of all time, the adventures of Gabe and Tycho have given me plenty of reasons to chuckle over the years. So when they started an episodic RPG series based on the franchise back in 2008, I was tickled pink. But the series has been slow going, and after two episodes, was scrapped entirely. But as it turns out, you can’t keep a good franchise down. |

The Tribez may sound like a civilization building game, but it's actually just a typical iOS city builder wearing a very elaborate, cleverly designed coat of paint. You play as someone from the modern day who finds a lost underwater civilization. Treated as a messiah figure by the villagers, you're roped into helping them develop their civilization, which means the usual CityVille-style grind of erecting buildings, leveling them up, collecting resources, and expanding your territory. Where The Tribez parts way with CityVille is in its philosophy toward social interaction and microtransactions. |

Ever since Halfbrick released Fruit Ninja, the produce industry has been plotting its revenge. This week, with the help of Dogbyte Games’ 8bit Ninja, fruit unleashed its master counter-offensive against ninjas the world over. Bad news? The plan pretty much consists of “fall from the sky.” Good news? The game that results is addictive, reflex-driven fun. |
