We’ve seen a lot of distance-running games on the iPhone. They’re simple yet solid timewasters that are appropriate to their price on the App Store. I’ve been hooked on Rat on a Scooter for a while now, and still fire it up every now and again. Clumsy Bob doesn’t try to re-invent the wheel, but is a fun diversion if you’re into high-scoring challenges.

Long before the invention of video games, families and friends would often get together for an evening of fun and frivolity around the kitchen table as they dove in to the latest and greatest board games. Now thanks to the iPad, that experience has been reborn for the digital age. Trouble Brothers is a new developer on the iOS scene intent on recreating the fun and social play of tabletop gaming.

The worst thing that ever happened to me on vacation was that time in Jamaica when my camera got stolen. I thought it was pretty tragic, but I guess I shouldn't complain; when Isabel stops buy a curio shop on her trip to Barbados, she ends up saddled with a cursed ring that will suck the life right out of her if she doesn't track down a bunch of pirate treasures by the end of the week.

Last year was a good year for Google and games. By November, more Android devices may have been sold sold than iPhone and Google released the Chrome Web Store, making it possible to buy a game app and be played on any device through the browser (which essentially, is just like an operating system). The problem was, no one can make any money on any of Google’s products for some reasons (more on that later).

In 2011, I predict Google and Android will become an even bigger games player. Dare I say, the largest games channel in the world? But, game companies will still not be able to make any money.
