Pixel Pile Review

17th of March 2010

Pixel Pile is one of those games that has an entirely literal name. There’s no clever pun or hidden meaning here. In this game, you pile pixels higher and higher, gaining more points for each pixel piled up. Its singular purpose and the carrot on a stick nature of chasing the high score harkens back to the arcade games of old, and it's as addictive as ever.

Ravensword: The Fallen King Review

17th of March 2010

Someone had to do it. An immersive action role-playing game with the look of Morrowind and the accessibility of The Legend of Zelda, Ravensword: The Fallen King tries to pack a lot of fantasy into its small, portable frame. There's the fantasy of knights, mages, ogres and demons. There's also the fantasy that epic swords and sorcery can or should be ported to the iPhone. The game makes a strong case for the contrary.

Westward Review

17th of March 2010

I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have lived in the Wild West of the 1800’s here in my home state of California: the gold rush, the building of missions, and every man for himself. With wonderful games like Westward, I can play cowgirl and never have to worry about getting bit by mosquitoes. Westward is an iPhone version of the PC simulation/strategy game developed by Sandlot Games, although this version was developed by Binoteq.

Zynga's Bill Mooney on FarmVille: 83 million monthly users and counting

16th of March 2010

The rapidly-growing popularity of social games was acknowledged for the first time at the 2010 Game Developer's Choice Awards with a brand new category for Best New Social/Online Game. Zynga's FarmVille took home the prize, which wasn't terribly surprising given that the farming sim currently boasts more than 83 million monthly users on Facebook -- more than double the numbers of its nearest competitor.

While FarmVille's success remains baffling to some people, Gamezebo was interested in finding out more about what makes the most successful game on Facebook tick. Zynga's VP and GM of FarmVille, Bill Mooney, was more than happy to answer our questions.

Jack Keane Review

16th of March 2010

The Monkey Island series is one of the most loved and charming point and click adventure series of all time, combining quirky humor and traditional gameplay into an engaging overall package. Which is bad news for Jack Keane. Because while the game bares a lot in common with the Monkey Island games, both in terms of its look and style as well as the way it plays, it also fails to muster any of what made them so popular: charm. Instead we're left with a fairly bland and boring adventure that lasts a little too long and is decidedly light on laughs.

Home Sheep Home Review

16th of March 2010

Shaun the sheep and his friends Timmy and Shirley are looking to escape the farm. To do so they’ll need to navigate the treacherous barnyard terrain and work together to complete more than a dozen puzzles. Can you use your noggin’ to solve 15 different physics-based scenarios and help this trio to break free of the farm?

Sword & Poker Review

16th of March 2010

Poker games and fantasy role-playing games tend to exist on opposite ends of the gaming spectrum. The former is rooted in the real world of casinos and cards, while the latter is about as far from the real world as you can get. You'd expect any game that combined the two to be a confused and confusing mess, but Sword & Poker brings these two very different genres together to crete an utterly addictive hybrid.

White Lines Review

16th of March 2010

For years we’ve been playing memory games like the venerable Simon, repeating back patterns of lights and sounds. Distill all that, make it minimal brushstrokes and put in on an iPhone or iPod Touch, and you’ve got White Lines.
